LALIT MODI – Chairman of BCCI Marketing sub-committee
Lalit Modi’s marketing skills had been put to use from the onset of the change of guard after
the November 2005 elections as Chairman of BCCI Marketing sub-committee, and rarely, if
ever, did his instinct fail him. And so when the opportunity arose to repropose the IPL, it was
embraced and with the strength of the BCCI and the International Cricket Boards behind him,
he steamrolled into action and in 2007 was deputed as Chairman of the IPL for five years.
SHASHANK MANOHAR – Vice President (when the IPL was formed, currently BCCI President)
Quiet but to the point, Shashank Manohar has never been one to beat around the bush or
assume airs and graces. Discipline, simplicity and efficiency alongside his legal brilliance
continue to keep IPL moving forward despite the challenges that come with managing a
successful property.
SHARAD PAWAR – President, BCCI (when IPL was formed)
When Sharad Pawar took over the helm of the BCCI in November
2005, it was the beginning of a new era of cricket. His priorities
were for transparency to replace discretion; to market Indian
cricket and maximize on its full potential; and to ensure that
cricket was nurtured from grassroots levels so everyone could
have a chance to play. It was this focus and clarity on domestic
development that gave IPL the strength in foundation that was N. SRINIVASAN – Treasurer (when IPL was formed, currently Secretary, BCCI)
required for it to become a reality, thus catching the imagination No successful property with the scope that the IPL has, and will have, can be run without

years of managing one of the country’s most successful companies, brings this legacy to IPL.
I.S. BINDRA – President of the Punjab Cricket Association and Advisor to the President, ICC
Bindraji, as he is popularly called, has spent the most years working with the Board and has
been instrumental to the development and initiation of the IPL. Renowned for his diplomatic
and people skills, his attention to detail and efficiency, combined with his infinite knowledge
on cricket, sports administration and the way things work in India have all played a key role
in ensuring the smooth running of IPL.
