Your loss has been widely attributed to your Indian players not performing.
As far as the Indian players are concerned I will admit that we did not plan properly. Somewhere we failed in giving adequate
opportunities to talented youngsters like Pujara and Ohja, who really looked good during the practice sessions. We were shuffl ing too KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
much and the youngsters never got to show their ability consistently. To this effect I think we let down the Indian players. Someone
should have taken a stand, but as a team, we didn’t. But all this is in the past now, and the KKR in IPL 2010 will be a force to reckon with. Owners:

Word on your new coach Dav Whatmore ? Juhi Chawla & Jai Mehta
Dav Whatmore has a great understanding of people’s sentiments in the sub-continent hence is able to communicate effectively. Also,
he is well versed with the workings of cricket in India and that is very helpful. Lastly, he is just as hard a task master as John, and I am Captain: Brendon McCullam
confi dent he will continue to build up on John’s work. Moreover, I think Dav’s stint with Bangladesh will be of help in establishing a
connect with fans of KKR. Players (in alphabetical order):
I am sure we will hit it off with Dav. More because he is a little more open and prone to discussions. Also, he was keen on having Dada
as the captain, which everyone, including the fans, wanted. So when the coach comes on board and has the same ideology as ours it Ajit Agarkar
makes things easier for all. Mark Cameron

It is important for anyone running a team to be a good peoples manager because it is not like you need to teach these guys how to play

cricket – how to hit and throw a ball. You have to be a good people’s person, a good manager of resources.
Chris Gayle
I think running any organization, whether its cricket or fi lms, with just a 100 people would be diffi cult task if you are not a people’s
person. You can never do it. I think that is the only asset I have. I deal in mass communication, getting people to believe in what I say. I Arindam Ghosh
can sell you soap and I can sell you dreams in the same breath and I think I am a good people’s person. So, yes, it requires a lot of inputs Moises Henriques
and I think Dav is like that. That is what I liked about him when I met him – that he is a people’s person. You cannot teach them (the Bradley Hodge
players) cricket as you said, and neither can I coach at this point of time. You cannot start from scratch, but I do hope that Dav and my David Hussey

people management skills payoff.

Tell us about the Super Over. Ajantha Mendis
Quite frankly I did not know what a Super Over was because in Season 1 it was the bowl out. The discussion started with Aryan asking Mashrafe Bin Mortaza
me about a bowl out and said that instead of a bowl out there was a super over and was asking me what it was. As I got into the lift I Ricky Ponting
was thinking we are going to have a super over. But even when we were winning, I just knew that we would lose that game. I think it Cheteshwar Pujara
Wriddhiman Saha
was negative thinking on my behalf in South Africa that made KKR lose the games. The onus is on me. Even though we had resolved the
Sourav Sarkar
issue of captaincy, still, from Day 1 onwards I felt like we were going to be humiliated in this tournament. Every time we were winning
a match, my heart felt that we would not. Every time I received a message saying “Congratulations!” - 2 overs left and we were doing Ishant Sharma
well, I knew we were going to lose the game. But strangely enough, if you analyze it, we lost matches more closely than last year so Shoaib Sheikh
we did better in some way. Laxmi Ratan Shukla

Any players you admire in the other franchises that you would say oh, wish I had them in my team?
Yashpal Singh
I like quite a few of them. There is Sachin and Dhoni– more so because I know them personally so I think there is a bias. I think Shoaib
Akhtar is completely awesome. Not to forget Gilchrist, Hayden, Dave Warner, McGrath. Though, Sehwag is my all time favourite, I think
he is really sweet and speaks to my son very sweetly and I like his straight forwardness. He is a man after my heart. Coach: Matthew Mott

Any stand out moments in IPL 2 that you remember?
John Buchanan
I know it must have been depressing for McCullam to see his team lose, but I thought his resilience and goodness really displayed
Wade Secombe
courage under fi re and he held himself with such dignity. It must have been hard for him to smile after those losses, but he did, and I
really appreciate that. For me, his spirit was the most outstanding thing about the IPL. Not because he is from my team. For me, it will Andy Bichel
always be McCullam. Also, Adam Gilchrist - everytime he came on to play. He is a gentle and smiling assassin, because on the fi eld he is Adrian Le Roux
a vicious and aggressive player who virtually decimated opposing teams almost entirely on his own. Andrew Leipus

Thoughts for IPL 3.0?
We are now past all the problems and mistakes of the past and are now working hard to make a mark in IPL 2010. The team is not sorry
or apologetic to me but angry with themselves. I think this is one of the good things KKR has going for them this year in IPL 2010. We
want to emerge champions in IPL 2010. We want to be number one in the world, be the worlds best team, including the national teams “
of India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, etc. This is what we believe.
