No need to shift Ranji trophy matches from Keenan stadium: JSCA
Wednesday 19 September 2012

Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) said there was no need to shift the venue for the Ranji trophy, commencing in the month of November, in view of the 34th Federation Cup football beginning at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur from Wednesday.

Keenan Stadium, a cricket special stadium, is one of the venue along with the adjoining JRD Tata Sports Complex for the league matches of Group A and D of the 34th Federation Cup to be kicked off later in the day.

Altogether six matches of the Federation Cup will be played at Keenan and JRD Tata Sports Complex in next six days and we have enough time to host the Ranji Trophy matches, Rajesh Verma, Secretary of JSCA, said when asked whether the Keenan wicket, which is to host Ranji trophy matches from the first week of November, will be perfect for the domestic cricket matches in view of the football league.

Expressing confidence that there will not be any major damage to the Keenan wicket even after the Federation cup matches, Verma said major works on the wicket have already been done and may need minor work such as rolling and maintenance of the field to bring it back to perfection for the Ranji Trophy encounters.

Keenan Stadium will host two of the four Ranji trophy matches allotted to Jharkhand in the forthcoming season. Jharkhand will play Assam in the Ranji Trophy from November 9th to 12th at Keenan stadium.

Jharkhand will take on Goa at Keenan stadium from November 17th to 20th.
