Trevor Bayliss named new KKR coach

Former Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss has been appointed as the new coach of Kolkata Knight Riders for Indian Premier League’s fifth season. At a media briefing to announce the new coach, KKR also unveiled the team’s new colours and new logo.

By appointing a new coach, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan believes that his team will be able to with the IPL’s fifth edition, “I always believe that you need to have the passion for winning, playing in the spirit of sport. A new coach in Bayliss, new players signed in consultation with him and captain Gautam Gambhir, supported by performers retained from last year, I believe we have put together a group which can go all the way this time.”

SRK also expressed confidence in IPL's future despite the controversies. “The future of IPL is fantastic. It is an entertaining property, an exclusive club with enough passion in the people involved.”

Elaborating on his thinking about KKR's value to Indian cricket, he said: “We at KKR believe in preparing you for sport, preparing you for life. Sport teaches you to face failure and I look at KKR's role in IPL as an opportunity for young sportspersons in our squad to succeed.

“I think because of leagues like the IPL, youngsters should dream to be a sportspersons and make a living out of it.”
