States file affidavits to accept Lodha reforms
BCCI confirmed receiving several affidavits from numerous states, mostly smaller ones, wherein they are ready to comply with the reforms
With the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) not releasing any funds to state cricket associations which haven't yet adopted the Lodha Committee report, state units in dire financial needs have filed affidavits agreeing to comply with the Supreme Court order of July 18 last year. Sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed receiving several affidavits from numerous state units, mostly smaller ones, wherein they are ready to comply with the Lodha recommendations.
Many state associations like Assam, Tripura, Orissa, Goa and Kerala have expressed their willingness in their affidavits to the CoA to adopt the constitution based on the Lodha Committee report. The CoA will look into these affidavits when it meets next," a source told mid-day yesterday. Orissa Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera confirmed that his association filed the affidavit on Monday. "We have stated in our affidavit that we are ready to adopt the constitution as per the Lodha report," he said.
While the CoA has decided to foot the bills of Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan teams for the domestic season where lodging and travel are concerned, state units hosting international matches have been released funds after the appropriate bills were raised with the BCCI. State association biggies like Mumbai, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu have so far shown no signs of embracing reforms.
