CA to experiment with twilight matches
Wednesday 17 August 2011

Innovation continues to change the way cricket is played and Cricket Australia are following suit by experimenting with twilight matches in the upcoming Sheffield Shield domestic competition.

Up to eight matches will become twilight fixtures, with the new timeslot to be trailed in games at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Hobart's Bellerive Oval, the Sydney Cricket Ground and Adelaide Oval.

The International Cricket Council sees night Test matches as a means of rejuvenating the longest form of the game, and has asked that first-class competitions around the world stage trials under lights.

Cricket Australia has repeatedly said it is open to introducing day/night Test matches.
