Sundar Raman has stepped down as the Indian Premier League (IPL) COO. Raman submitted his resignation on Monday during a meeting with Manohar in Nagpur.
Raman's resignation was accepted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and November 5 would be his last day with the Indian board.
According to ESPNCricinfo, BCCI President had asked Raman to resign voluntarily or he would be sacked during BCCI's annual general meeting on November 9.
Manohar had earlier criticized the board's decision to retain Raman post the 2013 IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal. “Raman should have gone immediately after the Mudgal Committee report found him prima facie guilty of wrongdoings. He ought to have stepped down immediately at that time. Now, to restore the faith of people in IPL and the game, Raman needs to go,” Manohar was quoted as saying by the Indian Express on July 19, 2015.
Raman is currently being interrogated for his role in the 2013 IPL corruption scandal and will appear before the Lodha Committee on November 15.
