Oz helping Maxwell to keep feet on ground
Sunday 10 February 2013

Australia's acting head coach Steve Rixon has said talented all rounder Glenn Maxwell would be given every kind of help to keep his feet on the ground after his head-spinning success in the sixth-edition of the Indian Premier League auction (IPL).

Maxwell will find Indian fans and media are just as keen to talk about the lucrative IPL Twenty20 competition as they are to discuss the battle for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, News.com.au reports.

Rixon said Maxwell is very delighted with his recent pick-up, adding it puts a lot of pressure on him so he knows he has to perform,

Rixon added Maxwell would be coming over here with a lot of expectation from himself and also the public, adding they have got to make sure he stays calm and actually stays with the program we've set him.

The former Oz glove man further said the program is to help him become a very good spinner, advance his batting which needs a little bit of curbing on different occasions and continue as arguably one of the best fielders in world cricket.

Rixon added Maxwell just needs to keep his hat on the right way and everyone will get a good result out of it and maybe his team Mumbai Indians will as well.

Possible lineup for Australia's opening two-day tour match starting on Tuesday against Indian Board President's XI at Chennai's Guru Nanak College Ground: Ed Cowan, Matthew Wade, Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, Moises Henriques, Steve Smith, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Ashton Agar.
